Hoisting a truck cab

I have a 16' I beam that spans my garage ceiling. Is this sufficient to support the cab of my '63?...and if so, what do I use to rig the hoist to the I beam? Anybody have any pics of a rig like this?

What are the specs of the I Beam besides length? Height and width.

Re: Hoisting a truck cab

I used a 6" nylon strap, ran it through the door openings (doors off) grabbed it with a forklift and rolled the chasis out from under it. If you have enough height and a chain hoist u should be able to do it. Or just get 6 friends to help you do it manually. just have the bed off and roll the chasis out from under it....

Re: Hoisting a truck cab

I just used motorcycle tie-down straps to the joists and pulled my '67 cab.

Where are the hidden wires?

In this picture it look like neither of the guys on the front of the cab are even lifting, more like steadying.
