gas guage problems
yes on my 1982 chevy swb i have a problem with my gas guage
i can put 5 bucks of gas in the tank and that showes like half a tank on the gas guage could it be the sending unit in the tank that conencts to the float could it be that the float is damaged

Hey, be glad it sorta works. My guage needle bounces like CRAZY! My dad (original owner) said all chevy trucks had that problem...said the float busted, so when it's bouncing, it means the float is sloshing, which means I HAVE gas...he said when it stops bouncing..it's time to get gas

I have the same problem. I have been told that it is a faulty guage. It makes sense because it will read the same (1/3 tank) on both tanks when full.

Well at least ya'lls works!! I have to watch my mileage to know when I need gas. Already ran out of gas twice, and right in the same dam spot about 3 miles from the house and 4 miles from the store. Thank goodness for a cell phone and a mom who brought me gas both times, around 6:45 am.

mine works fine just just moves toward empty when i step on the brake and that is only when it is below 3/4 mark but it goes back when the gas stops sloshing. i am told this is normal and has done it on the truck i had before. i am also told i could get a tank from an 87 (have to use my own sender) the 87 supposedly has the baffles inside to stop the sloshing problem do to the FUEL PUMP INSIDE THE TANK on an 87. does anyone know for sure if thats true. does the 87 tanks have the baffles that the older tanks dont, and will the sender from my tank fit the opening in an 87 tank.
