I can unbolt and pull my TH350 in probably about an hour..what modifications would I need to do, in order to swap in a 700R? Thanks!

There was a good article in Car Craft that has the specs on the GM trannies. I forget which issue it was though

AFAIK, they are splined the same, but I'm not sure on the lengths and mounting.

In Response To:
"TH350 -> 700R Swap...how hard? "

TH350 -> 700R4 = GRAVY

move your crossmember back 1 1/4" and bolt it all together.

Also make sure to add a extra tranny cooler and set the TV cable correctly.

How about for the shift linkage in the column? Would I have to get a column outta a 700R4 truck?

No the only difference is that you may need to adjust the shifter linkage at the base of the long rod that connects the column arm to the tranny connection. When we did the swap on a buddy's he couldn't get into 1st gear with the shifter. I loosened the rod enough to let him shift down then retightened. Fixed easily.

Coolio! I may be doing this swap sooner than expected, because I want this truck to be my 100% only driver (right now, it's only around town, because of having no overdrive.)

Question 700R4 conversion - what about the lockup?

This is great information. I am thinking about the locking torque converter though. What do we do about that? We don't have a computer on board .... hmm?

This (from Swervin's site) might answer the lockup question...

the computer isnt lockup controlled on a 700R4 or a 4L60 (later 700R4) a 4L60E however is entirely computer controlled, and does require a computer.
