Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
It's on my new 70 but it's huge after driving my 67 with the Lecara wheel. No tilt but even if it had tilt, it's so big it wouldn't go down far. I had forgot how big they were.

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
Power steering wasn't as prevelant back then as it is today, and a larger diameter wheel made it just a little easier to turn.

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
My stock wheel has been there for the entire restoration and it will stay there - It helps with the power steering to make an easy, "light touch" - especially when parking.

I'm with the stock wheel guys
Although on a custom I really like a wheel that compliments the wheels or other components....

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
I like the stock wheel best too. If I couldn't have that, a wood Corvette wheel would be nice too.

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
Stock wheels are the best, but I like the 67-68 wheel better than the later ones. The corvette wheels are nice, and so are the aftermarket that LMC sells that look similar to them.

67-68 is the best. Not to sure on the later ones. And the big wheels are the way to go

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
Well, this is what came on mine so I switched it out for another GMC. I have power steering so I went with a smaller diameter (1").

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
I have a stock wheel, but it didn't come stock on my Chevy. It did come on a Chevy, but I think it was an 81 or 82. Freebies are always good.

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
I never minded how big the big wheels were as much as the very thin grip. I'll admit, though, I like the 67-68 wheels. I thought about having my original wheel restored and put back on my 68, but it's just too big(it rubs my belly). I personally like the feel of a thick leather grip like on my LeCarra.

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
My truck has a later model stock wheel on it which I don't care for. I like the size, just not the style.
I wish someone would make a smaller diameter stock wheel.

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
I just don't get the fascination with tossing a perfectly good stock wheel for something completely out of place. It just wrecks the look of a stock interior. It's poor taste, and I've been guilty in the past but now I've seen the light!

Re: Does anyone actually keep or like the stock steering wheel?
I think it depends on the resto or the intended resto. If ya do a resto mod with much aftermarket then an aftermarket wheel might work. Might not be so out of place.
BUt anything close to an original, go with a factory wheel.

I prefer the thinner '67-'68 wheel myself, but I just use whatever is stock for the year I'm working on. LockDoc

I don't like the bus sized wheel anymore. Corvette/camaro 3 spoke wheel does it for me now
