Front Disc Brakes and Spindles
Hi All -
First post. Gettin' ready to jump in on a long awaited '64 project. I have had my eye on a whole truck load of CPP brake and suspension parts, but recently am not thrilled with their support and general attitude. Are there alternatives? Is their quality worth the hassle?. My apologies if there is a good thread on this already - my search didn't find anything. Feel free to just point me to some links. Thanks - - Mike |

Re: Front Disc Brakes and Spindles
I don't have an info for you, but just thought I would jump in and say I am also looking to see if one vendor is better than another, service and quality wise. Thanks for posting.
I am looking for 2.5 drops and I think I will stay with the 6 lug. I have bought some rear springs and shocks from Classic with good results. Rick |

Re: Front Disc Brakes and Spindles
What IS it with some vendors?? That drives me nuts. You'd think that businesses would be willing to help - or at least responsive. I CANNOT speak about dealing with CPP - I know there is a member or two that work there - and they are nice guys that are helpful to our members here in resolving issues.
Having said that - if you can't sort out the customer service issues - another vendor that has been spoken of pretty highly on here is Performance Online (POL). They sell same type of stuff regarding brake upgrades and suspension kits, etc etc. Here are some links (CPP included - like I said, I have not had any dealings with them, but just to be fair if others ref this thread to shop for brakes, wanted to include all the folks I can think of) Performance Online (vendor): http://www.performanceonline.com/196...0-TRUCK-c-404/ Early Classic Enterprises (vendor): http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog....version%20Kits ECE install article: http://www.earlyclassic.com/Tech.asp...20That%20Truck Good thread on a hodge podge approach with newer factory parts (have go through the thread a little to get to the brake stuff - this thread uses CaptainFab's great bracket for mounting the booster: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=377839&page=3 CaptFab Booster bracket thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=347484 CPP (vendor): http://www.classicperform.com/6092chevtrk.htm Last edited by jocko; 06-17-2011 at 10:31 PM. |

some links there that should help you out....i used the stock spindles from a '72 C-10 on mine...then i bought all the other rebuild components from a local parts supplier...but there are several companies out there dealing with complete kits & drop kits Classic Parts of America is another good source |

Re: Front Disc Brakes and Spindles
I'm one to try and support my local auto parts suppliers. Aside from supporting your local economy, if you have an issue with a part, you can just drive over there and get it taken care of. You can buy everything you need from your local auto parts supplier except for the dropped spindles springs, and the 6 lug rotors for the '73-'87 spindles. If you aren't looking for dropped suspension parts, I would just get some used OEM parts.
In case you're not familar with how easy it is to convert to front disc brakes, take a look at this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=367260 There are a couple more threads in the FAQ at the top of the main '60-'66 page.

Hey Mike try getting your parts through Summit Racing, they can get everything CPP carries. If you want CPP they can get it, but with Summit's costumer service.

Re: Front Disc Brakes and Spindles
Thanks Guys !!! This gives me quite a lot to work with. I have decided to go with drop spindles, so OEM for those is not an option - but I really like the notion of using my local jobber for everything else.
I'll do my homework and post any other findings/issues I come across. And of course I'll post pictures of anything I build out =] |
