Tilt conversion questions
Working on converting somr tilt columns and had a couple of questions for anyone who has done this.
Question 1. How do you get the old style firewall gromet and metal ring off the old column and on to new tilt column? Are you just hacksawing the metal ring and razor knifing the rubber gromet? Hate to totally diassemble old column to get these off and not sure if I could get them on new column without total disassembly to clear shifter linkage.

Question 2 is the little shift indicator piece replacable ? the white piece at back.Whats involved? And I removed the 2 screws that attach the gear selection window holder but it still seems tight. Is there another screw inside or a trick to get this off?Hate to pry and break it.

I have the flat to round adapter for harness and know that the small flat plug is probably cruise control. where in the fuse box do I hook the green plug. I am assuming it is the selctor lights?

And last question is the neutral saftey switch.
I would like that to be operational but not quite sure on cutting for relocation. Don't know if you can tell by pictures but even if I cut the outside tube slot the inner tube slot for the switch won't be there its only about 1 1/2" long .How are you guys cutting the slot on the inner tube for the switch to set into?

Same Trouble
I recently installed a Van tilt column from a 78, If you cut a rectangular hole that is identical to the exesisting one about 6 inches down the column you can use the switch from the Van, after the hole is cut you can cut a smaller hole in the inner shaft big enought to accept the Van switch. I don't have any pictures, but this is working great in my truck, and is not as hard as it might seem. If you have any question let me know,
Jason

I also glass beaded and polished the aluminum housing instead of paiting it black, This makes it look more like the one on the non tilt column, ( just fatter ), I'll try to ad some photos tommorow
