02 burb washer fluid leak?

seriously?!! came out this morning and saw a small puddle on the front drivers side. thinking nothing of it and that it was just rain from last night running off i get in and head to work. sure as the world when i pull out of the driveway the "low washer fluid" light comes on. i get to work and look and yup, leaking washer fluid.

theres no cracks on the bottom and it kinda looks like it running down from the top (which i can't see from the engine bay). any ideas as to where to look?

Re: 02 burb washer fluid leak?

I had the samething happon in my 01 Silverado.. Mine had a hair line crack in it that was hardly noticable..I found it by taking it off and filling it with water.. Took my drimmal and grooved it a bit and filled it with jb weld.. worked great ever sence.. or you could get lucky like my buddy and all his was the rubber gromet around the pump..

Re: 02 burb washer fluid leak?

If I remember right yes.. I think theres 1 or 2 bolts under that battery and one inside the inner fender.. pretty easy only took me like an hour or so not counting the dry time for the jb weld..

Re: 02 burb washer fluid leak?

Agree, vise grips or channel locks and new bolts. Leak will maybe be jug, probably pump. Also be sure to check the lines/hoses near the battery for spilts also.
I see this a lot working at a chevy dealer. Usually from a leaky battery.
Pull battery, three 10mm bolts hold tray in, one 10 on the neck of jug, one down low behind the inner fender liner, and a push retainer or two on liner. Line joint by fuse block, then pull up whole assembly to check for multiple leaks.

Re: 02 burb washer fluid leak?

yeah i pulled the battery (not the tray...yet) and nothing to be seen from up there. so i filled it up with water and looked underneath again. it looked like a 1/4 of the way up there was something like a black grommet or something that every time i touched it more water was coming out. guess i'll have to yank the tray and fully pull the tank out.

Re: 02 burb washer fluid leak?

You should be able to take it out from the bottom with out removing the tray. Thats how i did mine.. With out a picture the only grommet i can think of is around the pump.. Common leak point.. A GM Dealer should be able to get you just the grommet..

Re: 02 burb washer fluid leak?

This is great info, just wanted to say thanks to all who posted info. I've had 3- 01s and they all leaked. Kinda weird tho, they didn't leak until after changing the battery. Now, I have info on what to look for when I go to fix the two I have. Thanks again
