Finally Bit The Bullet
-
Delivered this morning. I've been wanting one of these for the last couple of years but just couldn't make myself sign on the dotted line... I finally said "just do it, Pat will understand".... Now all I need to do is figure out which vehicle I want to put it in. The Green '67 or the '34 Ford Coupe.. LockDoc

It may be a driver but the engine is getting a little tired...

What's that, a Crosley? I don't have a shoehorn big enough to get it in there...

Re: Finally Bit The Bullet
How much ya want for the crate?
Leon, you have arrived. I was on a crate engine roll about 10 years ago. I got a hot little motor for my Harley,a pumped up marine diesel for my '95 truck, and was looking into a GM Performance HT383 for my white '72 GMC but stopped short. I got all economic-minded and just swapped a motor from one waiting for restoration. But,I sure liked the concept! How's the motor in the Coupe? Either way you have a way to improve both if the Coupe's motor runs good.

Re: Finally Bit The Bullet
You might want to beat the crap out of it during break in. I babied mine and it has a thirst for oil. Pcv is fine. I'm not sure the ring seal is 100%

I have a use for the crate Tim. I would have loved to have a 383 but I stopped short too..... The Coupe doesn't have a motor so that is probably where it will go. I would just have to figure out if I want it 5 speed or auto. I thought it was kind of odd, the new engine came with a pilot bushing installed. LockDoc

Re: Finally Bit The Bullet
I've had mine in my truck since 2000. In 06 while the truck was down for repaint, I stabbed in a new COMP XE262 cam, timing chain, and roller-tipped rockers.
