Metra #99-3052 dash kit

Have any of you guys used this kit to install a DIN style radio in the dash? Any pros or cons on the functionality? Another question would be does anyone have one they haven't installed yet? I am trying to get some dimensions on the metal support / cut out template to lay a couple of things out and run some wiring. Got something special planned..............

My biggest issue with a DIN style radio was access, finger access. I found it difficult to push the right button for volume etc with the low mounting and no upward tilt. I ended up repairing my dash and installed a unit from Retro Sound, couldn't be happier. The radio has 2 knobs old school style, front and rear aux inputs and a thumb drive input. Of course a shaft style radio doesn't play CD's but with a thumb drive and aux input I don't need CD capability. Another benefit of the old style looking radio, thieves see it and keep moving.

I used that kit and it fit well and gave the radio some extra support. You could make it yourself with a piece of abs and a piece of sheetmetal but for the 13 bucks I paid it was worth using it. My only complaint is anytime the dash bezel needs to come off the radio has to come out and the cage tabs have to be unbent, kinda of a pita but thats really not the kits fault.

Thanks men. I have options here. I have a factory AM/FM from an 80' Big 10 (do not know if it works), a factory AM/FM from my old 77' K5 ( do not know if it works), a vintage 90's Audiovox AM/FM casette (shaft style) and my new fangled Sony that plays all of the good stuff (new in the box). Have time until I get to that point so, I will think about what I want to do....................
