Look what I scored!

How rare are these? I picked up a set of aluminum side steps! They're perfect for me since I don't have a 3rd door. I just have to drill a few holes in the frame to mount em up. But they are LIGHT and wont rust out.

Do you all think they could be powdercoated ok?

Re: Look what I scored!

you do know they are designed to bolt to the cab mounts? if they are for your truck then they bolt to the cab mount bolts.

Re: Look what I scored!

Yes the front part bolts to the frame mount bushing or cab bolts, but the rear part goes right to the frame where there are no holes.

Re: Look what I scored!

not if they are made for the truck, all I saw bolt to front and rear cab mounts. The ones with the pads might be the early ones or maybe for another application, because I been looking for a set for my 88 rcsb and all of them bolt to the cab mounts. If anything yours might be missing the bracket, it bolts right in the end of the tube with one bolt then it's like an L shaped bracket and bolts to the bar and the rear cab mount.

edit on 2nd look you have what looks to me like reg. cab bars and you are putting them on an ext. cab truck that's why they won't bolt to the rear mount like they should.

Re: Look what I scored!

Yeah, that might be for a reg cab, which is fine since I don't have any 3rd door. It's no big deal to drill a couple holes. I just like that they are alum and lightweight and don't go all the back to the ext cab part.

Re: Look what I scored!

Aluminum is lighter and it won't rust. Just do a good polish on 'em and keep on doing it.....

Nope! The rear bar goes in deeper to the frame so it parallel with the body.

Re: Look what I scored!

Powder coat or anodize or polish & clear coat. yes.

Or...... Dupli Color self etching primer & Dupli Color engine enamel w/ engine clear coat. That will also hold up.
