automatic trans mount?

what is the reason for the upper part of the mount ? is there any reason i cant cut it off ? having fitment issues after having the frame straightened without it in place.

crossmember. and thanks for the link. what type of hp/tq are you running dano? mine needs to hold up to 450+ hp/tq . may need to weld in a support peice.

It's a stock set-up, that's why I'm not concerned. Stock 350V8/TH350. I feel the x-member w/o the top parts is strong enough.
If I was going to run 450+hp, then I think I would remove the rivets to the top part and weld the top and bottom of the stock x-member together to make it a one-piece x-member.

the top piece of crossmember helps support the frame rail to resist twisting forces

With those hp numbers (450+) you don't want to settle on a weak x-member.

o trust me the one i make will beable to handle the power plus im gonna x brace the frame figure if i gotta fab might as well do it right the first time.
