Re: difference?

well, you have asked a very large question. One way that would be good is to look at an LMC truck catalog and they list what year the parts are for when they are different. They also list if the part is for 2wd vs 4wd. but there is quite a lot different from 2wd to 4wd. front suspension, bumper brackets, cab bushings, etc. Spend some time reading here on the forum and you'll get a lot of info as well.

Re: difference?

Thanks 72supermike. I had a brain fart, i should have been more specific, i have a 69 4x4 3/4 ton and i have found a 72 2x4 that has a good cab, fenders and hood for a sweet price. Will it fit my 69? I have ordered the catalog you mentioned, i just dont have it yet. Thanks, steve

67 - had no side marker lights, metal grill, sloped hood, and was available with small and large rear window.

68 - had side marker lights, metal grill, sloped hood, and was available with small and large rear window only in very early models.

69 - had side marker lights, aluminum grill with parking lights, new fenders that had a indention for the new aluminum grill, new hood that what straighter in the front, only available with large rear window after '69.

70 - Same as 69. Only the plastic grill insert was slightly different.

71 - new aluminum grill with egg crate plastic insert, parking lights now located in front bumper - other wise same as 69-70

72 - same as 71 except doors had different door panels, and no longer had inserts to install 67 - 71 door panels.

Basic interchange:

Fenders:

67 - no markers. Same as 67 GMC

68 - had markers. Same as 68 - 72 GMC (GMC never used the 69 - 72 Chevy fender)

69 - 72 - had marker lights and indentation for grill (Chevy only)

Hood:

67 - 68 - sloped hood. Only works with 67-68 fenders and grill. Same for GMC

69 - 72 - straight hood. Only works with 69 - 72 grills. Same for GMC

Doors:

67 - 71 - Had inserts to mount door panels
72 - had push in door panel mounts. 72 doors will bolt on to 67 - 72 trucks

Bumpers -

67 - 70 front - no parking lights.
71-72 front - parking lights in the bumper

67-72 rear - ALL

Tailgate:

67-72 - ALL

Radiator support -

67-68 - For metal grill

71 - 72 - For aluminum grill

67 Chevy:

68 Chevy:

69 - 70 Chevy:

71 - 72 Chevy:

Yes, it will work, but you will need to cut out a section of the hump, and nbolt on the transmission tunnel off yor '69 cab. The 72 cab will also have a cable operated gas pedal, and will no have the mirror holes for your '69 rear view mirror. No big deal, but worth mentioning.

Re: difference?

guys thanks for the help i just bought my 69 yesterday, the body is basicly junk. I have been all over the net reading and looking for parts and I have taken in so much info so fast that its hard to remember all of it. I have also found a 72 2x4 with rust free bed, fenders, hood, and the cab only has half dollar size rust hole in one rocker. its still on the frame and has disc brakes, the guy is asking 650 for it all. this seems like good price, or am i showing my rookie by thinking thats good price?
