Dash Pads and Chrome door panel inserts
Hi All,
How hard is it to get the dash pad out and back in? 1979 Chevy C20. Also I am in the process of replacing the door panels and it seems that only one supplier "Classic Parts" supplies the chrome insert. Does that fit in LMC's OEM door panel? Also if you are replacing the Instrument Bezel is that a bid deal or does it just unscrew? Thanks in advance, Dave |

Re: Dash Pads and Chrome door panel inserts
Dash pad comes out real easy.
Unscrew the 4 screws holding the lower bezel piece below the steering wheel Remove the bezel by unscrewing it. It may be a little tight around the steering column, but is pretty easy to coax off. Then remove the line of screws just above the glove box. Once all this stuff is off, pull the dash straight toward the rear of the truck to remove it. I have the woodgrain inserts from Classic. They're nice quality for being plastic. I installed them on my OEM doors, but if LMC says their OEM panels will accept the original trim, then I think you're good to go. The trim around the woodgrain or chrome piece holds it together, not the insert. |

Re: Dash Pads and Chrome door panel inserts
Thanks a million. The big question was the clips how do they work in the dash pad and should I buy new ones?
My original door panels only have a chrome trim ring. Like I said I found a trim ring at Classic Parts but don't know if it fits LMC's door panels. LMC says you need to reuse the original, but it has lost its chrome finish and looks like plastic. Guess I could ask. |

Not sure I know how to post a picture to this site or any site.
How do you do that? What I am talking about is on two different web sites. LMV and Classic Parts. |

Re: Dash Pads and Chrome door panel inserts
If you cant get pics up, give us the year model and trim level of the panels you have. I'm going to guess you have 77-80 panels, if so lmc door panels accept original door trim. So if the trim you wrote about fit oe panels they will fit lmc panels.

If it's like the one I've attached, your aftermarket trim should work on LMC oem style panels. Mine did. |

Re: Dash Pads and Chrome door panel inserts
Wow Thanks a million. The trim ring which is shown in youi OEM panel I found at Antique Parts. LMC dudn't seem to have a trim ring.
Did you use the spray paint from LMC to paint the dash pad? Thanks a million. |
