Small window or big window more desirable?

I have a 1967 small window stepside, and before I sink money into it, I wanted to know if I'd be better off with the big window.

I love the small back glass. I sure wish my '72 had one, but the last year for them was '67. I would definitely keep it original.

I like 'em all, the small window is cool but I'm perfectly content with my big one

I agree with mudtruck above. The one you like is the more desirable.

I like them both but prefer the large window because of better visibility. I have the small round rearview mirrors and can just turn slightly either way to see each side of me.

If you break it down to parts; 2 cabs, both rust free, dent free in perfect shape - I'd say the big window would be worth more because a broader range of fitment. A guy building a correct 68 - 72 can't use the 67 cab, no matter how nice it is.

That said, I wouldn't have anything but a small window cab on my '67 C-30 even though a large would have been available. I also would have a small window cab on my '70 or '69 trucks.

I would pay more for a small window cab than a big window cab, but don't tell the guy selling the small window cab that...

Thank for the input. I like the big window, but only marginally better. The small window cab I have has already had all the rust repaired, so I planned to stick with it.


I just didn't want to sink a bunch of money into and then find out the big window ones are worth a a lot more, since restoration on either will be about the same.

Well you see obviously see WAAAY less small windows than big....and a stepside to go with that?? Hey I may be biased but I don't think it can get any more desirable than that

I think it looks nice how the window width is contained within the narrow width of the stepside bed. Looks a lot more oldschool.

I alway thought big window, short bed fleet was the most popular. 72 and 67, the most popular years. The Shorty Cheyenne being the King of the Hill. These days I'm second guessing that. Oh well. I prefer the big window although my 67 is a small bw.

Harry Bentley Bradley was the primary designer of these trucks. He preferred the small window, saying it has a limo-look, or a classic look..think about the cars of the thirties and forties.

However, the buying public wanted more glass area and thought that the small window was old-hat.

The larger series truck cabs (40-50-60) retained the small rear window, even if trimmed out in the Custom Cab level.

It's all a matter of preference, a few years ago I would have agreed with you hands down, but as styles change so do people's likes, tastes, & wants. You now have individuals who swear up and down that loaded "slant nose" 67-68 CST are harder to find thus more desirable, or on the other hand you have the "plain jane" fans who like the simple early small window clean trucks, this fan base has been rapidly growing in the last couple years-trust me I've been doing my homework.

I like my big window because they were rarer in 67, but mostly because I get to school guys who think they know something about these trucks & ask if it's a 67 with a newer cab or if I filled in the marker lights. When I tell them it's all stock 67 they say 67's had small windows. Then I ask them if they want to learn something today & show them the spid. I love the look on there face when you prove them wrong.

For practicality I prefer a big window. I drove my 67 for just a little while before it got stripped down to nothing, and it was really hard to get used to seeing out of vs the big windows.

Collectability? I have no idea, personal preference like others have said would be my guess.
