72 Blazer - Here we Go

Bought this Blazer on Ebay back in February. Decent condition and decided to go hot rod style with it. We'll see how it turns out!

Had to take out the interior before I could take it to the Body Shop! Even got some help from the little one!

I purchased the engine(5.3) and tranny(4l60e) last week for $1000 even. My issue now is tying everything togetherwhile keeping the original np205 transfer case. At this time I'm getting ready to purchase the advanced adapters shaft http://http://www.advanceadapters.co...ts/pn-50-6900/
and the 4l60e kit

Please let me know if there's anything I'm missing. Also I've been advised that will need to lift the truck 3 to 4 inches to create clearance from the front differential. I have also been advised that the engine will have to moved 2 inches to the front to keep the original shifter in its place.

Dropped off tranny and TC at the repair shop today. I printed out the thread " The Alien" had created an gave it to technicians. The Alien has a good thread on how to mate a 4l60 to an np205, a lifesaver to say the least.
At this time I need help on coming up with lift-tire-wheel combinations for the blaze. Post your pics or advise on what you think would work. Thanks!

Looks like a cool build! I'll follow along! Top looks good. And while I personally wouldn't run those wheels, they will look tough with those tires!

I like the "classic" wheels on these Blazers. Steelies with the smaller hubcaps, 73 and up ralley wheels, ET slotted mags, 10 holes, etc.

Great suggestions on the wheels71swb4x4. After seeing several wheel options I still don't know what to purchase. I hope others post their opinions and also some pics of their favorite wheel-tire combinations.

Man...that's either some seriously deep paint with incredible clear coat, great photography, or someone enhanced that pic a bit with photoshop.

Unless you plan on lowering the truck, which I assume you're not based on the tire itself, I personally think its a bit too much rim diameter for the tire size. The pic above has similar rims and tires, but he's running a larger tire.

First Off let me say that yellow blazer is Nice! In addition, that is very similar to what I hope to achieve with my blazer. As for the " Hot Rod " term it's more to classify it as a customized ride instead of an " original " or " stock " look. Thanks for the pic!! Keep 'em coming!

I was thinking the same about the tire wall. The pic that I showed was of a 20" wheel on 33's. I am interested in finding a picture with an 18" wheel on 33's. I appreciate the help.

Well I'm a little disappointed due to the fact that the transmission guy didn't want to risk cutting into the stock transfer case adapter. After confirming what I need to do with Advanced Adapters, it's off to the machine shop to get the adapter cut.
I would like to add that the transmission has been rebuilt and the output shaft on the 4l60e has been replaced with the one from AA. I have pics of the transmission yet can not upload with the iPad. Don't ask me why, can't figure how to do it.

My tires are 315/70 r17 it has a 6 inch lift

Well had to go out of town for a couple of weeks but I'm back now and ready to continue working on the Blazer. Here are the pics of the 4l60e with the new shaft installed. It's all rebuilt. Also in the pics is the original np205 tranfer case. As I had mentioned I will need to take it to the machine shop to get it cut.

Advance adapters sells a transfer case adapter made of aluminum (or they did when I did mine) 50-5302 Even that one still need a little machining for the speed sensor. Did you also get the 6 bolt to 4 bolt adapter that goes between the transmission and transfer case adapter that is also the location for the speed sensor? 50-0405

I also believe you have to get rid of the bearing supported couple in exchange for the non bearing supported couple 52-9503. I believe this is neccesary to accomodate the reluctor wheel (that you have installed) and the speed sensor that goes into the 6-4 bolt adapter. At one point they had a kit 4l60205 or ? that had all the parts in it. It was a little cheaper than buying them all seperately.

Funny thing is there transfer case adapter has a larger thread size for the shifter and I had to have a bolt and spacer machined.

I have been driving the Jimmy for a little over a year and it is a blast to drive.
