What are these wires for?
Have been doing some engine purtification, and came across these two wires (black one on the left, green one on the right, both rolled up) that were just cut off and hanging. I have no idea what they used to go to, nor how long they have been cut. They look like original wires. Any ideas?
Thanks! junk

Re: What are these wires for?
The horn wire is a heavy, green one. Do you have a working horn?

Re: What are these wires for?
dmack91, yes the horn works,
Pat70/71. Yep, I know this darlin. one of my other helpers (Justin, age 21) will graduate from boot camp in just under 2 weeks. He was my "truck buddy" up until he left for Lackland AFB. There is 20 years between my oldest and youngest children, Rick is my oldest at 25 and a daughter, Candace in the middle at 23, PLUS 3 grand babies.

Re: What are these wires for?
I see that you still have the remains of the Transmission Controlled Spark, (TCS) and my guess is the wires are part of the sensing for the system. One from the transmission to let the vacuum advance work when the transmission is in high gear. The other one is to let the system know when the engine is warm enough to allow the vacuum advance to work. Looking at the engine, I doubt if any part of the TCS is hooked up to it anymore.

Re: What are these wires for?
Jim, thanks. If that is indeed what the wires are, will that effect the performance of my truck?

Re: What are these wires for?
not to knit pick but you might think about getting rid of that flex fan and a fan shroud never hurts .... best of luck

Re: What are these wires for?
The truck will run better without the system being hooked up.

Re: What are these wires for?
71 longbed. I just bought the flex fan, had electric...no thanks. , but I agree with you on the shroud. Its commin
Jim. Thanks again. so I can just remove the plugs that they are attached to? Is there anything else with that system I can get rid of? I hate having non functional, non useful junk on my truck that could be removed and clean up the engine compartment.
