Are my trailing arms shot?
I was taking apart my rear suspension and after I got to the trailing arms off this is what I had. Are these any good or should they be replaced?
Are aftermarket trailing arms any good? Which vendors did you guys use? Thanks in advance. Dan

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
I'd replace them. Kinda surprised your inspection station let it go from what I've heard about those guys.

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, and the more I look at them the less comfortable I am. It's funny you said that about the inspection, they didn't say anything about them, but they did make me have working windshield washers.

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
I would definitely replace them...
If you decide on aftermarket....ECE, CPP and Porterbuilt all make nice aftermarket trailing arms.

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
I went with ECE's set up. Not cheap ~$750 but very heavy duty. I also have my old ones (original Ca truck) , don't know what they would be worth of how much shipping would be but if interested I'll look into it and send pics.

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
There are some on the parts board that I can pick up if I can get them. But I'm interested in your old ones if that doesn't pan out.

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
Most of them around here look just like that.
Now here's what a shot one looks like. I ran it until it could go no more.

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
I"m from PA too, that's what I thought all trailing arms look like, it's factory, right? When I had to replace mine, I get a pair off of ebay for $100. When I opened the box, I was amazed at how clean they were. I was like a little kid, I could not believe how nice something that was 40 years old could be without rust.

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
i know where there's a LWB C/10 that's been sitting for at least 10 years (he won't sell it either) in his side yard. The left rear arm snapped about 7 years ago.
it's still sitting there. |

Re: Are my trailing arms shot?
Gee, those look just like mine! I beat the rust out of them and painted them, don't know how well they will hold up though. Lots of deep pits under the rust but seem intact.
