How Good Is My Air Conditioned Memory?

It is hot up here in Montana. 85 degrees. 83 degree heat index. My mind might be fried.
If my memory serves me correctly, there is a door inside the A/C box that diverts air to/away from the heater core? Is this correct? Is there any place to buy a new door/ A/C box? I know a door is broke and I repaired it with popsicle sticks/Gorilla Glue. I think this is leading to the air being not as cold as it should be. I have to run on inside air to shut the heater valve off because it blows hot air if I don’t. Any ideas? Suggestions?

85 degrees, thats almost long john weather were I come from. It's going to be 117 in Phoenix today! Anyway, I put a valve in my heater hose, that way you can shut it off in summer and turn it on on winter.

I actually just put a ford valve in mine with a cable because as Jeff Foxworthy said "If you often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again, You might live in Montana."

You are right about the blend door. I'm sure someone in China is stamping parts for it. The heater core should have a shut off valve already inline. Feel the hose on the intake side just past the valve. It should be cooler than before the valve. You may need a new valve because of improper sealing.
After you've fixed this get rid of your engine mounted fan and install an electric fan. Wire it so that it controls engine coolant temp AND comes on anytime you request A/C (do not wire it so it cylces with the compressor). Then wrap your dryer in insulation wrap. Replace the expansion valve (orifice tube?) and evacuate, vacuum and recharge it. You will be rewarded with snowballs coming from the center vent. This may be over the top now but its a good upgrade.

I got rid of the clutch fan and now have a good ole' flex fan. I have a dual electric fan but the sound bugs me. I have put 4 different valves in and none have sealed. The ford valve works great. I should be able to have all the hot water in the world going through my heater core and not affect the A/C temp. The pipes going in and out of the condenser turn white with ice (I don't think the condenser is icing over). I have the right freon pressures also.

What should I wrap my dryer in? Does anyone know were I can get a blend door at?

I have one in the garage you can have for about $75 plus the ride. Of course you can save a lot of time by going down to your local Ford dealer.

LMC has something they call a air shut off valve. It is a door (pg 120). Probably would not hurt to reseal the box either (LMC pg 119). Wrap the dryer in camper tape. It comes on a roll and is insulated or use that asphalt based tape which would probably be better. Big Box DIY outlets will have something to insulate it.

That is the portion of the system that controls outlet vent volume and direction (defrost, center, floor)

Your truck should have a heater shut-off valve that is vacuum operated when you go to "Inside Air". I disconnected the vacuum hoses at the two air valves that change it over to inside air - one in the plenum and the other at the passenger side kick panel - and plugged the hoses. Now when I have the control set to inside air the heater water valve is closed, but I am still using outside air.
Makes a big difference in the cab, and in Phoenix I need all the help I can get.

That looks like the same component I saw but looking at the pic again it looks like a fresh air vent to the cowl but if I remember correctly isn't the only fresh air from the kick panels?

Where did you get that? I have looked at the parts stores for one that will replace the cacuum one and will keep the hot water out of the heater core.

Every vender sells the part you need. (air diverter box I think it's called) I just bought one for about $80. It is a gm piece.
