Air Cleaner Breather to Valve Cover

I just replaced the valve covers on my 283 with a nicer set that I painted Chevy Orange. My previous setup had a McGivered bunch of hose and metal tubes to connect from the valve cover to the air cleaner. What is the connection supposed to be? Is there a part for this or is it just a rubber heater hose or something like that. I've got a 4MV quadrajet carb air cleaner with the breather that has the little piece of filter on it in the air cleaner.

Thanks

Re: Air Cleaner Breather to Valve Cover

On mine ('68 4bbl), the vent goes from the carb spacer to RH valve cover.
If set-up like mine, there is a formed hose and breather/filter assembly.
The PVC hose comes off the front of my carb to the LH valve cover.
Sorry no pics...my camera is hiding from me.

Re: Air Cleaner Breather to Valve Cover

Thanks for the replies. I have a metal tube from the RH rear valve cover and then a rubber adapter to the air cleaner. Looks too hokey to be stock.
