04 2500 Fan shroud rubbing
I took my truck out for a camping trip this weekend and i was pulling my toy hauler up throught the mountains when i heard this loud whining noise. Temp guage was pegged, so i killed the motor and pulled over in a safety pullout. started looking at the truck and noticed that the fan had worn a hole through the bottom fan shroud enough that it stopped my fan. the noise i heard mustve been my fan clutch screaming.
I havent had time to investigate more on why this happened but i did cut away the shroud to get me home. Any ideas why this might happen? maybe my motormounts are worn and allowing my motor to drop? I do not have a body lift, and my truck has 145,000 miles 04 chevy 2500, 6.0L, 5 Speed manual, 6" RCD lift, 37"s Thanks |

Give it some time I'd look at the motor mounts and take the fan belt off and check for play at the water pump.
