2000 chevy truck lost reverse.
Hey fella's I was wondering if ya'll could help out a guy trying to help his Mom.
She has a 2000 chevy truck. Its 4wd with the 4.8/4l60e in it.It's been sitting in the driveway for about a year now.She had loaned it to my sister and one day while she was driving it the truck lost reverse. My advice was to take the trans out and have it rebuilt. She got a qoute for that and said well maybe it's something else.(She's a single mother with alot of bills)Anyway some mechanic hold told her that it was possible that it's a reverse silinoid inside the tranny pan.Has anyone ever heard of this? I like old cars and trucks. So I know nothing about this stuff honestly.I do work on cars alot though.Restoring a nova and a 69 c-10 ten truck. I did a search on this furom and came back with nothing. Also googled it and came with some stuff.None to handy though. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: 2000 chevy truck lost reverse.
If ONLY reverse is gone...The Reverse input clutches are toast or the Low/Reverse clutches are toast.
If Reverse & Second gear are gone....The Reaction Sun Shell is broke. If it "Locks up/Binds up in reverse" (Wont roll freely in either direction on level ground) The forward clutches are not releasing. There is no "reverse solenoid". Rebuild is the only solution for ANY of these problems. A GM dealer would just install a Sunshell if it was broke |

Re: 2000 chevy truck lost reverse.
Thanks for advice.
I go 2 sleep everynight with a car magazine next to me.And I have never heard of such a silenoid either. But when my mom gets and idea that's all it takes. Like I said some mechanic told her this.A 4l60e is basicly a 700r4 correct.Nothing to fancy just a computer controlled version... Thanks again for the advice.Figured I'd throw the idea out there.... And yeah this is same person.I used to go by c-10ten kid.
