My 6t7 stepside
Today I picked up a 67 swb stepside from a local guy. I had an old boat that he liked so we traded heads up. Right now it's an ugly thing, but I am still proud of it. I built a 56Chevy pickup some 12 years ago that sat on a C10 frame, so I learned a few things from that build that hopefully I can apply to this truck.
It currently doesn't have a motor or transmission which I like because that opens up my options. I will probably go with a small block 327, 383, or if I can find a fair priced ls1 or ls2 I will go that route. It needs a lot of work so that is later down the road. Here are a few pics and I will post more later once I get the truck home. Once I begin the restoration process, I will start an official build thread. A lot of beautiful trucks on this site, and I look forward to being a member for many years to come.

Re: My 6t7 stepside
The cab drip rails on this truck are pretty rusty. Anyone have good solutions? Should I grind them off and smooth it out or try to repair? Floors are solid with exception of rocker panels. I plan to pull the bed off this weekend and possibly start some frame restoration.

Re: My 6t7 stepside
Today will be my first night working on the truck. I plan to clean some junk out of the bed and gut some extra wiring from under the dash

Looks like a good project. Look forward to the build thread!
67 is my favorite of the 67-72's.

Re: My 6t7 stepside
Thanks. Right now I am a little uncertain about the condition of the cab. May think about swapping it altogether

Looks like a good project! I see the potential
I personally like the look of shaved drip rails. Will this be a cruiser or a daily driver?

Re: My 6t7 stepside
It will be a cruiser and part time show truck. Unless I somehow get a wild hair and build a drag racer

I have removed the passenger side drop rail as it was rotted. The drivers side looks good from the surface but no telling how it looks underneath. I think I am going to need a new roof skin. Should I just find a good one from a donor truck? If so where should I cut it at? below the windshield pillars or above?

Re: My 6t7 stepside
You can see the top of the pillar is rusted through, and the windshield drip rail is not straight either. I bet there is lots of rust in there. Should I replace the entire roofskin?

Re: My 6t7 stepside
I'd check on the FAQ section and start a new thread if you don't find an answer...but I'd think replacing around half way down the frame would be good and somewhere around the rear window or at the rear seam....

Re: My 6t7 stepside
Here is the metal that was covering the wood in the bed. It was welded to the front panel and along the side bed strips. Had to use a grinder to get it out. Weighed a good 100lbs.
