e brake

I have a 66 k10 and it has been sitting for four yrs. My question is the e-brake doesnt work, were should I start? The truck is running driving, the brakes work otherwise.

i'd check the integrity of all the cables and for any missing anchors (i.e. like the metal bar that hoks around the cable and then anchorst to the frame - kind of under where the passenger's left foot would be, if that makes sense - that piece seems to be an easy one to go missing.... other than that, you will probably have to bust into the rear drums and make sure the ebrake levers are making the shoes engage the drum.

If all of the parts are there, I would check for rusty cables. The ones in the back that go through the backing plates to the rear brake drums tend to rust solid in their sheaths from lack of use. That would be the first place I would check.

e-brake setup changed in 1966 from the previous model years... on the half tons, 2wds.

Not sure if there was a big difference or not on the 4x4s.

I need a new front brake cable that attaches to the handle. where is the best place to get one? Is there any difference in cables between 2wd and 4wd?
