54 Chevy Frame Swap options
I have an oppurtunity to purchase a 54 Chevy 1.5 ton or 2 ton truck. The truck is an ex grain truck that belongs to a co workers cousin. The cab and fenders are in excellent shape with great patina, but there is of course no bed. I have thought of some options for a frame, but don't really know what will work. I have some nova subframes laying around both front steer and rear steer that I could use. I also have a 2000ish S10 blazer 2dr 4wd that I am leaning towards using if it will would work. the wheelbase of it is 100" inches even (center to center). The blazer has a good 4.3 and overdrive tranny and working 4wd That would be nice. Has anyone ever done this swap? is it doable? What do you all recomend I do? and lastly how easy is it to come across beds for these and what years will work?
Thanks, Monte

Re: 54 Chevy Frame Swap options
I'm pretty sure the blazer chassis is not going to work. Everyone uses an s10 pickup. The beds aren't really hard to find, depending on the length. Being a 1.5 or 2 ton, I would guess its the really long bed (9ft), Mar-k in Oklahoma reproduces beds in short and regular long bed. super high quality.
So trade the blazer for an s10 locally and swap it on there with a short bed, drive and enjoy. Last thing.... if it is a 2 ton, the front sheetmetal will be larger than if its a 1.5 ton or smaller. might change the direction you are headed. There is TONS of nova/camaro/s10 swaps on the site, do a quick search and check out all the pros and cons.
