Jeep Springs...AGAIN!

Sorry Guys, I know everyone has asked this question. I know the Jeep TJ '97-'07 and GM A body springs work. I have heard that WJ and XJ springs work. I found 08 jk springs on CL. I am assuming that just about any pigtail spring will work on the rear. Its just a matter of how much it will raise or lower the truck. I've heard of people massaging the rear cups to tighten around the pig tail becasue of the size of the coil. If anyone has lowered their truck using the '08 and up JK springs please tell me how they performed. The guy wants $40-50 for the springs but I am puposefully on a tight budget with this truck and I don't wanna added $50 to the junk pile.
ATTENTION!! I know some of you guys have cut your rear springs and I know many manufacturers make lowered springs for our trucks so please do not be tempted to offer these suggestions.

BTW!! If you have any Jeep springs installed or laying around and know what they are from can you measure them? I would love some installed/uninstalled measurements. Please be as complete with your information as you possibly can!!

Do not waste your time or money with rear Jeep springs. They MIGHT lower the truck 1/2 inch or so. They have a much weaker rating than factory springs, and your truck's hauling capacity will be greatly reduced. They are the same height as factory springs, so the "lowering" you get is from the weaker rate. I put them on my truck for a week, then pulled them and threw them in the trash and bought proper lowering springs.

I'll explain my tight budget and it'll make more sense. The inspection sticker on my truck expired 5/98. I can only guess it was taken off the road in the year prior to that. That kinda money I dont mind spending.
I am not on a budget because I am broke. I am on a budget because I don't want to put money in one place only to find out I needed to put it somewhere else.
BTW, the pic demonstrates how worried I am about hauling capacities.
I completely respect your opinion. Believe me I am a BMW mechanic and I'm all about doing something right. I know this is temporary and it will change once a shakedown period is complete and I feel more comfortable about this trucks reliability. Again, it comes down to "correct" and "good enough".

I'm with you and with member leddzepp.
DON'T spend $800 on a lowering kit,... right now.
DON'T waste your money on crappy Jeep Springs.
Spend $99.99 from POL on some drop springs.
No money wasted.
You can add other suspension components to them later.

Suggesting Jeep springs is like suggesting torching the stockers.

Ok,then forget it. I can get the CL springs for $40, Chevelle springs from NAPA for $70 or C10 drop springs for $100+shipping. Hopefully shipping doesn't bend me over the barrel. Buying right the first time means I don't have to buy again. If I bought $40 springs and had to replace them for whatever reason I'd have that much more money involved in the process.

They drop the rear about 4", they are super thin and bottom out with 40 lbs in the bed of the truck. I have some i'll sell for $20 plus shipping if you have your heart set on em.

Thanks but no. If I had a free pair layin around I may be tempted to throw them in. I asked for advise and got it even if its not what I wanted to hear. I'll buy right the first time, still cheap but right.

I understand "correct" and "good enough". I used Jeep Springs in the rear, because I am on a budget as well. They did NOT lower the truck any more than 1/2". There is NO point in using them

The only way I can figure it dropped your truck that much is because you have a long bed....my truck is a short bed. I bet the weight difference is why yours dropped. Like you said, add 40 lbs to the bed and it bottoms out.

Try it and see if you like em (since you already have them...) chances are you'll be saving up for real drop springs, I think ECE makes heavy duty 4" springs for burbs etc.

Ok,so lets move to the panhard rod. If I envision this correctly, the rod gets too long when the rear is lowered. So all I gotta do is put my truck on the alignment rack, raise it, remove the bolt on the frame, measure the distance from the bracket bolt hole and the rod bolt hole, lop off the end, fishmouth the end of the rod weld the end back on, if I did everything correctly it should line up and be correct for the new ride height. Whats with the super long panhard rods that bypass the connection at the centersection of the diff?

The "longer" the bar,... the less side-to-side movement thru-out the suspension travel.

Gotcha! Thanks! I can't envision this dynamically. All I can see is the arc instilled in the vertical movement if the rod length is incorrect.. So if I shorten the rod it will not help true vertical movement of the axle?

not the best route but, you could always do the no cost rear lowering by cutting the rears my wife's 67 is done that way and i know a few others to. i probably will install regular drop springs though

That was done to my truck by the po. Then they welded flat bar to the spring so the cup would work. It rides ruff. I will see if I can get pics tommorow.
