1970 Longhorn CST What would be a fair price for this?
I found this truck a few weeks ago sitting in a lot with a bunch of other old cars and trucks. It is a 70 3/4 ton Longhorn CST. It was a 402 truck, has all the a/c stuff, has decent maroon interior pieces, some trim pieces might be reusable, the body is pretty rusty. The out side of the bed doesn't look terrible, but the inside is questionable. I'd like to buy this thing for the A/C parts and I know a guy looking for a Longhorn frame and box. So this truck might be a good donor for us. The guy that owns it won't give me a price, and wants me to make an offer. I figured I'd see what you guys think is a fair value on it. As I was loading pics of this truck onto the computer, I noticed it has over the shoulder belts. Does that look like the stock optioned ones? I've never had any so IDK for sure if they are. The original engine is also gone, it has a clean title. Since I took these pics, the RH window has been replaced. Here are some pics:

Not to insult, but what's scrap value going for up there now??...maybe offer a $150-$200 above that??....Also, if that's a hugger orange interior paint, there's a guy looking for a complete ac dash that color on the parts board....those shoulder belts are valuable as well...did ya get a SPID pic?

Good luck with it ! Those seatbelts seem to match the carpet color, and door panels, steering column. They fit nice. That looks to be a good truck for parts

I wasn't able to meet with the guy this weekend. I'm going to see what he has going on this week.

Re: 1970 Longhorb CST What would be a fair price for this?
if the seatbelts clean up nicely you might get 500+ just for them....at least 250-300. If the trim is decent you'd have some decent value there too....
I'd say it's worth 5-600 easily and you'll get the parts you want out of it and be able to sell the rest of it for more than that...

Re: 1970 Longhorb CST What would be a fair price for this?
I agree with the others, not worth much.
The seatbelts do look factory. They might be worth a mint, but you will have to look them over real good first, and you don't want to do that with him standing over your shoulder or he will think he has something. Either offer him a little above scrap, or add up the parts you want and offer him that. I hate it when someone refuses to name their price. I do find that about half the time they simply don't know, and they just want to get rid of it, but it still bugs me.

Re: 1970 Longhorb CST What would be a fair price for this?
Ryan,
Sorry, I never saw this post. I would agree with those who have already said it, I'd be wary about purchasing it for an intended project. Now, if you were just trying to get a few parts, I'd offer 300 to 500 for the sole purpose of the belts. It might be worth a hair more. I can't really see the conditon on other parts, although I feel that the rust is indicative of the truck's overall condition, but I'd probably topp out at $500. Keep us posted. Good luck! Nice find on those shoulder belts by the way. -Richard

Rick, it may still have evil coming to parts of it due to our great climate.

Re: 1970 Longhorb CST What would be a fair price for this?
I doubt I'll be getting this truck any time soon. The owner says he has a big block for it, not the correct one, and he thinks it's worth $1500-$2k. I said no thanks. He told me to call him later and let him think about it.

Re: 1970 Longhorb CST What would be a fair price for this?
I'm going to knock the dust back off this one. The owner of this truck called me the other day wanting to buy some parts from me. I asked him if he still had the Longhorn and he still does. He told me to look it back over and give him a call. I did go back down there and I wish all the stuff was still on the truck that was listed on the spid. I'm kind of thinking about getting this thing to actually restore but as a K20. It seems pretty optioned out IMO. Thoughts?
Of course the buckets and tach are gone now. I wonder why it didn't get a tilt? Would that had to be a custom deluxe for that, or something the person whom ordered this truck didn't order?

Re: 1970 Longhorn CST What would be a fair price for this?
Yeah, I doubt he'll take that. The AC parts are probably worth that. You can't find $500 trucks around here any more, and they are always rusty to boot.

That was a nicely loaded truck in its day. BTW, it is a 69. 1 year only interior color and last year of the speed warning. Just go get it, you know you want it!

The SPID says it's a 69 too, however, it does appear to have an original, very hard to find 1970 inner grille. Could have been swapped out somewhere along the way.

Re: 1970 Longhorn CST What would be a fair price for this?
I'm just curious, but the paint code is 593. Is that 7074 and 2185? Also, in 69, are the buckets actual buddy buckets, or 2 buckets and the plastic console? Also, are those black arm rests correct?

Looks like the BB frame stands are still in it too. The buckets would be the separate seats with the console. Is the manual throttle still in it? It's worth a few bucks..... LockDoc

I'll have to check on the manual throttle stuff. I'm guessing who ever robbed the gauge cluster, and buckets, swiped it too.

Re: 1970 Longhorn CST What would be a fair price for this?
I see more value than scrap. At the end of the day you need to tally up the value of the parts that you need and whats left over too sell and go from there. Is that a factory radio in it? I like to get a feel for a seller before I make an offer because if I really want what he is selling the last thing I want to do is insult him. I haven't even met this guy but I feel I know him enough that if you offered him 200 bucks he'd tell you to go pound sand... I own a Longhorn, the trim pieces if they are use able have plenty of value.
