Fuel Filler Grommet advice needed
I purchased a fuel filler grommet from Classic Parts less than a month ago, and it has already started cracking and falling apart. Can anyone tell me where I can get a good quality product not made from crappy chinese rubber??
Thanks, Gary

Mine is from LMC also. I like the quality plus it's only 4 bucks. After shipping though it came to about 12 dollars Oh Well

I got one from GM, yes it's still available. It started cracking after about 6 months.

Wes Hepp (Classic Heartbeat) was getting these (and firewall grommets) specially made out of some decent rubber. Give him a call.

Re: Fuel Filler Grommet advice needed
Are you all using some kind of lube to install these? If so don't because it will cause them to break down. If you need lube use some kind of liquid dish washing liquid.

Re: Fuel Filler Grommet advice needed
Here's my post from January of 2010. If you want to peruse.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=382211 It's been 1 year and 7 months since I got it from Wes at Classic Heartbeat. I park my truck outside and it's been two winters and 2 extremely hot and dry summers and the grommet is still pliable like when I got it. And also not rubbing off like the old one I had. |
