Gas tank thoughts and ideas

Has anyone built their own gas tanks from steel. I have been toying with the idea of building one out of cold rolled steel , I'm thinking steel because I don't have access to a tig welder.

It all depends on if you can weld good enough to not have leaks. That sounds a bit tongue in cheek but if your skills are up to it, why not? We had a 79 ElCamino with a 45 Gallon welding shop made gas tank. The truck did regular commutes between SoCal and Arizona when the P/O had it.

I used a '69 mustang fuel tank right between the frame rails behind the rear axle. Fits well and less than $100 on ebay.
