57 rear coilovers questions
I am thinking of puting rr coilovers on my 57 shortbox and was wondering what to buy. How do you know what poundage to buy for coilover load? Are there any cheaper alternatives such as a vehicle that came with factory coilovers I could find at the wreckers or no.

Re: 57 rear coilovers questions
Are you meaning to eliminate the stock springs? not just as "helpers"?
If so, the first thing to look into are the mounting points. The original shock mounts were never intended to carry the weight of the truck. After that, the spring rate is somewhat of a trail and error thing. It can be calculated "somewhat" based upon mounting location, weight of vehicle, expected load, etc....but at best it's still a guess. You have to try something and adjust from there.
