Valve Covers

Any opinions on these valve covers?

Do you know if they have an oil fill hole or do you have to fill the oil through the breather hole? Is that a pain? Any other suggestions for less than $250?

This is what I put on mine. Bought them gently used on eBay for about $30. Advance Auto has them for $49. There's no hole for oil, but I use a funnel and go in through the PCV vent.

You can go to almost any swap meet and get a good set for $5o bucks!

Those look pretty nice and yes your gonna have to fill through a breather or pvc hole..

Tom, For YEARS I have "lusted" after thoise Valve Covers.
Now that I have a GMC, it seems kinda "odd" to put them on my engine.

I have those valve covers on my truck and really like them. I have a breather in one and a PVC valve in the other.

I'm pretty sure trans dapt makes an adapter from center style to wide style..

Don't spend $250.00 on valve covers.Go to a swap meet or two and you never know what you'll find.I scored this very nice pair of tall Mickey Thompson valve covers for $25!!!They even have the very good looking Bowtie with Chevrolet script.Most I've seen don't have that.I couldn't get my money out fast enough when the guy said it was $25 for the pair and not each!They might not be your style but I think they look great and goes with the period correct theme.At $25 you can't go wrong




I just went out to the shed and got them out to take pics.I should have cleaned them up a bit.A little elbow grease and you can have a nice set of valve covers for cheap.Happy hunting,be good

as far aas filling with oil// most aftermarket manifolds have the boss on the front for a fill tube, a smart imaginitive fabricator could drill and install an oil fill tube with a screw on cap to use for a neat custom oilfill port

You should get these,its a good deal.I have a set of black one the exact same.I paid $165 brand new.Good buy and its from a board member.they are also the same finish as the ones you originally posted.Win-win,jump on it

If they are exactly like the black ones I have,they are a quality casting.Nice thick gasket rails and mine have little tabs cast into the inside top to drip oil onto the rocker arms and valve spring to aid in lubrication.Hope this helps and saves you some coin.Be good

I recently faced the same issue (on my blue 72 DD) and decided to refinish the stock valve covers and am real happy how they turned out. The red 72 got an old school look on the newer vortec heads and center bolt setup.

What size is your pcv? I bought the stock size and my valve cover does not have baffles. So, the only option is the rubber baffle, but my pcv OD is smaller than the rubber baffle ID???

I really prefer the stockers or script covers. Took me forever to find these chrome script beauties for a reasonable price ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/130719376543...#ht_500wt_1219 ) Can't wait to get home and swap them out

Where did you get those looms for the centerbolt valve covers??

Be careful purchasing the tall valve covers if you have a drivers side upper mounted alternator. The tall covers make it nearly impossible to get the alternator belt on.
