Rear disc conversion

I am converting the rear of my 85 to discs, what else do I need to do? I have the hardware part of it figured out as far as calipers, rotors, and mounts. I have thought about just going ahead and getting the CPP master cylinder and converting to manual brakes to get rid of that ugly ass booster.

Re: Rear disc conversion

Speedway offers 2 different weld-on brackets, 1 for the 7" mounting and 1 for the 5-1/2" mounting of gm calipers. I f I used the one with the 7" mounting would I be able to use the stock truck style(D52) calipers?

Re: Rear disc conversion

i'm definitely tuning in to see who replies to this because I'd love to convert my rears to disc brakes. I have a 1 ton so idk if that changes things in the rear for brakes... i'm assuming it would. But if you don't mind me being nosey, what do you have in the way of costs so far with the parts... not labor?

Re: Rear disc conversion

Nothing as of yet. I am converting to the 1-1/4 rotors on the front of my truck at the same time so I will have the calipers and all the other parts come out to $120. That includes 96 Impala SS rotors, speedway brackets, pads, and mounting hardware. I will have to get the axles redrilled to 5x5. I am swapping in a 9" from a Ford truck so it has the 5x5 1/2".
