Which Power steering pump

With my 5.3 swap I have clearance issues with my power steering pump housing and pulley interfearing with my steering shaft, I was wondering if the type 2 pump with the remote reservoir and smaller diameter pulley like on the camaro or vets will bolt up to the truck power steering mount? I Am trying to avoid buying an expensive setup , I've seen some pumps on eBay from some of the front wheel drive cars that look similar to the camaro ones but I would hate to buy a bunch of different ones for some trial and error Any ideas would be great

In that situation, I would move the sterring shaft with aftermarket Heim joint & U-joints. Borgeson & Flaming River are good sources.

What are you working on? Year/Model of the truck, Year/model of the engine.
98 on LS1 4th Gen F-bodies do use a remote resevoir. Corvette does...But neither will fit your brackets

Well even so I am new to this site but might have a answer for you on this one. I am about to put a 5.3 in my 82 k20 but right now the 5.3 is in my 95 S-10 and had the same problem but with it hitting the gear box with the stock pulley. Did some researching on a s10 website and found that a ford power steering pump pulley will work since it is smaller. I got a pulley from a late 80's ford van and it cleared just fine for me but of course had to go to a smaller belt. I hope this help

Well that is what I was afraid of, the truck is a 55 first series with am s-10 front clip, I already have a couple u joints and other couplers that I was going to try and use but where I had to mount the engine put it really close to the steering shaft, the smaller pulley would help but the housing is still in the way, so I guess I,m gonna try and cut and weld a small notch in the reservoir housing,

Is your motor from a van? That one might give me a little more room , can you tell me How the housing sticks out from the bracket

Yep, 2007 Chevy Express 2500 with hydroboost. It did have the res. mounted on the firewall, but I moved it to where it is. No Idea how far it sticks out. Like I said if you need a close pic I can get it when I get home tonight.

Yes that would be helpful if you could take one so I can see how it sticks out compaired to the mounting bracket

I have a hydroboost setup as well, but I'm not actively using it.

I put a slight tweak in frame rail just to give room for movement, but I've had no clearance issues yet

Thanks usmc for the pictures, I can't post a pic of my problem with the device I'm on , but from your pics if I had a pump like yours and a smaller pulley I will be able to clear my steering shaft, I have room on my frame it's just where the steering shaft is coming from the box is where it comes into contact with the top part of the pump housing, I'll try and post a pic from my computer tomorrow so maybe someone else can benefit from this post, thanks again for the pics

So here is a picture of what my clearance problem is, I will be using a 3/4" Round shaft connected to a spline coupler from the steering box, in this picture they are not tightened down and they are touching the against the pulley and the pump housing, but from the looks of the van power steering pump's housing looks like it is slimmer,
