emergency flashers?

Ok let me see if I can say this to where youll understand. I recently installed a rebel wiring kit. Everything worked fine except for the tail lights. When the headlights were off the brake lights and both blinkers worked. When i turned on the headlights the tail lights, blinkers, and brake lights stopped working. I fixed that problem by grounding the tail lights to the frame. But now when I use the right turn signal both signals blink like emergency flashers although I never had emergency flashers before. Does anyone have any suggestions. Im completely confused.

What method did you use to ground the taillights (wiring?) to the frame?

It could be a few things:
Possibly somewhere in the wiring, you have the left and right taillight tied into the same terminal on the flasher. The turn signal system is pretty simple. Flip the lever, voltage goes through the turn signal switch, through the column disconnect, through the flasher, then out to the taillights.

Are the wires on the correct terminals at the steering column disconnect? The one thing that ties all of this together is the disconnect because it contains the turn signal wiring and flashers (if equipped).

The Rebel kit is labeled, so you might have to just double-check the wiring at the taillights and at the column disconnect. Does the Rebel kit have the flasher plugged in at the fuse panel?

Try that and let us know what you find.

I used 10g wire from the tail light bucket down to the frame. Ill check your suggestion and let you know what I find. Thanks.

I couldn't help but notice that Southwilrise bought a Rebel wiring harness.

I just got through installing a Rebelwire 9 plus 3 harness in my 63. Works like a charm. Try removing the hazard flasher and see if that works. It is the one on the left. Otherwise, call Bob at Rebelwire. I called him a number of times while installing mine just to make sure I didn't mess something up. He is a great guy with a great product!

Thanks for the suggestions. I removed that hazard flasher on the fuse panel and everything works perfect now.

I'm glad it worked for you. Bob at Rebelwire told me to remove mine if I did not have flashers.
