1- Does that protect the starter?

2- What does "ttt" stand for? I've been seeing it all over this board.

1. I belive it does.

2. ttt = to the top

I thought it protected the the pass side floor from the exhaust pipe?

You piqued my curiosity enough to go out and have a look under my truck. Sure enough, you're right. There is no heat sheild on my starter, but the one pictured above is right above the exhaust pipe under the front rake of the pass. side floor pan. Thanks, I learned something new.
