Hey all,
I put in a B&M truck shifter. You can see pics and info about how I did it here- 'Trimming the tree' has the pics;

Really well. Now I have to control the urge to drive like a hooligan so I can ratchet through the gears

Re: Put in a B&M truck shifter

I have one in my 1970 as well, It took a little getting used to but you're right. Next to a 5 speed its the most fun you can have.

Re: Put in a B&M truck shifter

I have one in mine and it's great. A high stall converter and a ratchet shifter make an automatic a lot of fun!

I'd recommend taking it apart once a year or so to clean, degrease, and regrease it. How often you do it depends how much you drive but it's a good idea just to keep it working well.

Re: Put in a B&M truck shifter

It's an old B&M Holeshot 2400 from the 80's. Though behind my motor and pushing the 3.08 rear gear, it's more like a 3500 stall now

I used to run this converter behind a stock 350 and one with a RV cam and it worked pretty well. Probably looser than what most people would like on the street but it did the job.

Re: Put in a B&M truck shifter

ive been scared of the megashifters since a buddy of mine was running one and was racing a guy, he went to 3rd and the shifter broke, put his car into reverse and put the transmission into about 50 pieces, including moving the whole motor back and about rolling the car

Uhmm.. that's my current setup. It works pretty well for a daily driver.
