Radiator Overflow Canisters

I will be putting a new radiator in my truck in a few days and I need an overflow canister. Does it need to be water tight where the hose goes in? How about some pics of what you guys are using? Creative (cheap) ideas are welcome.

I have the same questions.

How about one of those Heineken mini kegs?

I need to know as well. 110 degree weather is making mine run the fluid out quite often.

I have a small universal cheapy from auto zone, but here ae some ideas for you guys. If I had to do it over again which I probably will, put it down on the right side in front of the radiator support. http://www.google.com/search?q=radia...w=1223&bih=606

Re: Radiator Overflow Canisters

I poked a hole in a Gatorade bottle and ran the overflow hose into that. It doesn't flow back, but at least it catches it and I pour it back in later when it cools down.

Re: Radiator Overflow Canisters

i just have the hose running down th side of the radiator..no need for the canister.. it was too bulky..plus its only in need to catch the excess release of fluids when hot..i think..

Re: Radiator Overflow Canisters

Here's an earlier thread with some ideas. Mine wasn't cheap, but it's the only one I've ever owned that works perfectly. Each time I open the radiator cap, the coolant is even with the bottom of the cap. Previously I had one of the stainless street rod cylinder types, and it always left 1/2" of air in the radiator.

Well the can is black and I have yellow on the roof and dash. It will blend well, but still look cool. I'll try and do it this weekend and post pics.

You have to make sure you have the right cap for it to suck it back in.
