exhaust descission????

okay i have a completely stock 350 in my 77 chevy its about that time for new exhaust cause the old ones just dont sound like they used to

my idea:
run the pipes in front of the rear tire
dual tips
maybe hooker shorty headers(not sure on that yet)
3in piping
and i need help with finding out which exhaust to get i want a deep toned well respectable sounding not to loud but noticable exhaust

You'd only need the 3" pipe if you have some fat block 1000hp mountain motor.
Remember to use a crossover somewhere around the middle...I didn't once, and I had a hideous pop-gun sound everytime i accelerated.

oh so i should connect the pipes somewhere?
and im using 3in pipe because a buddy of mine used it on his truck and it was completely stock and it sounded good it died down the sound a good bit and i loved it but i didnt like the fact his was just straight piped

3" is too big for a stock 350. I ran 2 1/2 on a big block and made a difference.

Get full length headers, Summit 2 1/2" H pipe crossover kit, whatever mufflers you choose ( I like Dynomax Ultra Flow) and I'd put it all the way out the back. Personally can't stand the exhaust coming out in front of the tire, but that's just me. Or have it dump just in front of the axle.

the reason im wanting to run them out the side is because i have true duals already with 12" glasspacks and i cant really hear them as much as i want to another reason for wanting the side exit is because its different and im going with the street look on my truck

oh and my truck is a long wheel base so it will still pull the exhaust back away from the cab

I had dual 3" with 2 chamber Flowmasters on my 82 longbed. They were dumped underneath and LOUD. I wouldn't have gone with 3" but I got a smokin' deal on the whole system so I wasn't going to pass it up.

I would dump it before the rear axle if you want a different sound. There will be some drone but it wont be as bad as you think. It depends on the setup everybodie's sounds a little different. I run hooker longtubes down through 2.5 inch true duals with cherry bomb extreme single chambers, dumped before the axle. I had it coming out the back and the sides before and after dumping it I probably wont ever go back. Looks cleaner without the tips too.

ive run 3" system on many vehicles stock and wild. never really missed any power lol v8 has plenty haha but a 2.5 xpipe would do great for you you can get one for about 140 and some thrush welded series mufflers for under 40 each and have a cheap and lovely sounding exhaust with alot of braun. and maybe go to an exhaust shop and have them bend you tail pipes and you will still be cheaper than a whole system in a box!
