whats wrong?

1989 crew cab 454 4X4 was driving on freeway last night then all the sudden started to feel like i was running out of gas started to sputer and back fired a few times and then just died it has gas in it i just changed fuel tank switch and fuel filter and fuel pump. it just turns over and wont start now thought maybe was the coil so i replaced that and still nothing but when i put new coil in theres one wire that wasnt hooked to anything see pics when i removed old coil any one know what this wire goes to? and any other ideas of what my prob could be its geting gas but wont start any help thanks guys.

I think that is the tach lead, but it's been 10 years almost since I had a TBI truck. (that ran!!!!)

Check the timing. Have you looked at the rotor?

Pull a wire and check for spark .......if you have spark squirt a small amount of fuel in the intake ...if it fires for a few seconds it is a fuel issue.

If you have spark and fuel and still no fire you have a mechanical issue....timing chain???

X2 take three coke caps full of fuel and throw it down the tbi if it starts your tbi system or fuel system is to blame!

I agree. I 'd check the fuel filter also. Always check the cheap and easy things first.
