If you are thing anti theft, Remember there are almost two generations that would never think of looking in the grille for the hood release. Just kidding.
It doesn't look that hard to me. I would go to pick and pull and hunt around for a cable that you like. I would get the bracket to these trucks have a dash that goes pretty far toward the firewall making for easy mounting. As for the hood end I would Find a small tube that fits fairly tight to the outside cable sheath then braze or hard solder a washer to one end then cut a slot down the length of the tube for the inside cable to go through Just an idea mark |

I haven't tried it but I think that you could pretty well do as Mknittle said and build your own.
The cable will have to loop around and pull from the front side of the latch. I'd get a cable long enough to loop around to pull from the front and then make a bracket to hold it. Once you have it figured out just trim off the end of the lever. You want to rig some sort of alternative way to open the hood from the front though. Maybe drilling a second hole in the stub of the lever so that you can catch it with a wire hook. |
