Has anyone ever...

It may just look totally stupid but I was just wondering if anyone has ever put a swing out spare tire carier on a pick up? Can this be done? Any pics?

Re: Has anyone ever...

I see where you're going with this, but my opinion is that I wouldn't do it to my truck. Back in the Seventies/Eighties, there was a Pre-Runner theme that was counter to the mini-truck action. In those trucks, spare tires were mounted in the bed, on a slant...toward the rear of the bed. The gist was to make it easy to get to when you had a flat in the desert.

On a 4WD SUV, I can see it to create some room inside, but on a pickup....just not seeing it.

I think it may look ok on a SWB 4x4 type. Not so much on a LWB 2wd.

I picture a 72 Blazer with a spare tire rack attached to the tail gate and the roof off it. Not a bad look? I had one in high school and ran it like that all the time.
