Good day at the yard

My dad and I went out the local 'you do all the work' yard and wandered around. He wanted GM sheet metal to repair a rust spot that has appeared on his '78 and I needed vent windows & a/c parts for my '86.

We found an '86 3/4 ton that the passenger side bed was destroyed and it looked like the motor had seen better days.

Off of it, he found his.

While he was doing that, I was looking at the a/c lines and anything else I might use, when I found this.

I had read about some you guys finding one in the yard, but I had not been so fortunate until today. Hopefully it works. I was able to grab the entire harness and ended up taking all the wiring on the truck. The interior of the truck had not been touched until it got to the yard. It had the original radio and no aftermarket accessories in it. Mine is so messed up I figured it wouldn't hurt, and my total bill was $82.16. Not a bad day, I think.

Well except I still need a vent window assembly, the one with 3 mounting spots, on the driver's side. Oh, and a/c parts.

.

I have the condenser, line from the condenser to the box on the firewall and 1 bracket still attached to the engine. I need everything else. I will take a photo of what I have tomorrow and post it in here. It's for a '86 K10 with a 350.

Where in Nevada are you? Did you happen to find that cluster at the Pic-A-Part off of Lamb? If so, how good of condition was the rest of the interior in?

North of Reno/Sparks. We go to the Pick-n-Pull on Greg St. in Sparks. The passenger side of the truck was destroyed from wheel to wheel. All the molding was in good shape, that I looked at. Headliner was still there. Dashpad was junk and the bezel was gone.

Next time I'm out there, I'll take a look. I have no idea what shipping would be from Reno/Sparks to NY though. They sell the doors, complete for $75.00 each, but shipping might not be so great.

That's too bad. Too far a drive for me from Las Vegas, lol.
