my 66 daily got totaled

Was driving home last nite with my girlfriend she's 8 months pregnate we went thru a green light and a 18 year old girl coming from the other direction failed to yeild at the turn and t boned us in the intersection she never even hit the brakes. Luckily my girlfriend and the baby are fine we spent the night in the hospital just a bit sore. Thank god we were in my truck we we're at her grandmas picking up a crib she had the baby matress in front of her in the truck because it could not fit in the bed. If we were in her scion she might have been driving and it wouldent have taken it as well as my truck. I just thank god her and my son are ok. I plan to get a new cab for the truck eventually but not anytime soon. Crossing my fingers hopeing I don't get screwed by the other peoples insurance and them not want to pay for what the trucks worth.hard to tell from the picks but the whole cabs shifted over almost 3 inches

Re: my 66 daily got totaled

Glad to hear your girlfriend and baby are OK. Geez, so sorry to read about this. The last couple of incidents I've had were teenage girls doing everything, but paying attention while driving.

That Stinks.

Glad to hear you guys are okay.
Don't brush off any odd feelings in the coming weeks. Often right after an accident, people will think all is fine, and later develop problems.

I hope thinks work out well.

That's very good advice, especially with the girlfriend being 8 months pregnant. I was in an accident a few months back, and felt OK right after the accident because my adrenaline was still pumping, but the next day, I felt like I got ran over by a bus.

Really glad you're all ok-
I've been there, so plan to stand toe to toe with other driver's insurance adjuster, get estimates and make them fix it right - sadly, they have little or no respect for our old vehicles

i agree. go to a body shop and have them print you an estimate, in case the insurance guy plans to screw you. which is pretty much his job. pics of the truck will help also. a police report stating she ran the red light should seal the deal. also the insurance guy might want to total the truck and pay you a lump some which should be lower than your truck is worth. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THAT OFFER, unless of course its reasonable. he might say its old, but you tell him its vintage. also a chiro visit wont hurt, a lot of them are in cahoots with lawyers. two passengers and one of them preggers is a gold mine. good luck.

Re: my 66 daily got totaled

They are lucky your not claiming bodily injury. Make sure you also print out ads for trucks in the price range that you would value your truck. for example if you belive your truck value is 15k then look for trucks in that value range. be care and make sure you dont over state the repairs other wise they may want to just junk it and pay you off. Which in some cases but not all it may be worth their offer. My wife was hit in her sedan which we paid $1900 for 6 months later they came up with a value of $5000 minus the cosmetic repairs it already needed when all said and done they paid her $3500 for the car.

Re: my 66 daily got totaled

Yes, glad to hear all 3 of you are doing okay. But as already said stay aware of any funny or different feelings either of you may have. And don't let the insurance company take advantage of you. Try and get a plan together of what you are going to want out of the insurance company, and stick to it if at all possible. Lots of good advice already given in that respect.
