Re: my combo
the truck is already done is used to have a 555 big block and run 10's. so the truck and chassis are done im just swappin motors to make a little more street friendly.

Look at my numbers in sig.. 347ci 11-1 cr Ported 853 heads 243/250 .610/.612 (trex cam) Super Vic (don't go vic JR unless you spend money to have it ported. Dominator TB (it is not too big for EFI motor) 4L80E with 4,500 rpm verter 4.56 geared 12 bolt with 30" drag radial I would personally do a custom cam. That EPS cam will not work great with a single plain..

Re: my combo
well i called geoff at eps and was gonna have him spec me a custom cam but since i didnt wanna teardown shortblock to relieve pistons for valve clearance he suggested this cam.
so do u think my numbers are doable? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: my combo
That cam will work, it is just not optimized for that set up. I also hope you plan to run blended gas all the time and a very good race gas with that set up on spray. I'm assuming you will be running 62cc or smaller chambers, factory flat top pistons with no reliefs in them, .045 head gasket?
If so, this makes your combo 12.05-1cr with a DCR of 9.08 assuming a standard 50 or so degrees of duration for the hyd roller cam profile (some have a little less, some have a little more, but not by much). You are asking a lot from a stock piston and rod even with upgraded rod bolts. As much as the saying big isn't always better, in this case, using a cam with a bit more duration can help reduce DCR. But the problem you have is those big valves on a factory piston. I would honestly spend the money on a good piston with valve relief and a decent rod. Budget is great, untill something comes apart. If it's not in your budget right now, then don't spray much more than a 75-100 hit on it. Just my suggestion.

Re: my combo
What Super said. You can get some Scat rods and Forged probes for under $800.

Re: my combo
well the heads havent been milled and im using a stock gm gasket. i really hope i dont have to run blended gas all the time cause that would defeat my purpose of making it more street friendly. i always use 110 or better for the spray. i prolly give it a 150 shot and see what it does surely it wont come apart the first time lmao. but rods and pistons deffinitely aint makin it this go round. hell 800 is bout what i gave for whole dang motor.

Re: my combo
A stock LS6 head is 64cc. If any milling is done even to sqaure up the head, my guess is they will be 62-63cc when finished, but for arguement sake, we will use 64cc (perfect brand new head with no milling or squaring).
A stock head gasket compressed is .054. No valve reliefs. Stock pistons for LS6's are normally pretty darn close to flush but generally people use -.005 (out of the hole .005) because thats what they normally come out to. This comes out to 11.50 static and 8.67 dynamic. 8.7 dynamic is what I recomend as a max for 91 octane. If the heads come in at 62cc's from being squared up, .054 stock gasket and -.005 out of the hole, you are at 11.93 static and 8.99 dynamic, requiring a blended fuel. Going to a thicker heads gasket is not the answer either as quench becomes even more of an issue. Heck, you are already running a .054 gasket not helping that issue to begin with. Do you have a degree wheel? I might consider mocking things up with out a cam in place checking P to V every 2 * of rotation. Armed with that info any halfway smart cam manufacture could squeeze as big of a cam in there as possible reducing DCR. Just trying to shed some light on things for you. The big valve stock piston is the killer. Adding more total duration would really help you as far as fuel.
