drums to disc question

wondering about rear drums if i can still use the rear hard lines all the way to the P.V?

I did on mine, check the proportioning valve and see what size the rear lines are, make sure it is the same as the ones on your truck, I think my front discs lines were 5/16 and the rears 1/4" but I have slept since then.

My MC only has one line wich runs to a t-block and then ends up on the passenger side on another t-block then finaly to the rear. i was thinking of just caping the t-blocks and using that same line that ran the fronts and the rear just for the rear.
my PV has two lines in and three out.

This is what I did and have had not problems for over 4 years now..

Sick5 - are you saying you are running a single reservoir master cylinder with a t-block that feeds front disks and rear drums? That seems like a problem to me.

OR - are you just saying that is what you currently have and you're wondering if you can install the disk/drum dual res mc and wondering if you can use the existing lines to the rear? (probably a dumb question, but had to ask) I'm assuming it is the latter case.

I think post #5 by CaptainFab is the the answer in my book. So, if it were me, and my rear lines were already 1/4" to the rear as they apparently were from the factory, I'd leave them in place for the drums out back and run 3/16" front lines only from the front brake mc reservoir to the front disks (or from the pv, etc to the front disk, but you know what i mean).

Just to clarify When I upgraded to disc brakes and a dual master cylinder, I used the stock line to the rear capped off where the front lines came off. Then ran new 3/16 lines to the front.

what im saying is i have MC that only has one line running to all four drums..
and im adding a Brake Booster and a MC with a PV. i want to use the same line that is used for all four lines just for the rear. and just cap the line from the t-blocks for the front.

question do you have to bench bleed the MC or can i bleed it on the truck.

You can bleed it in the truck... Just make sure you bleed it before tou start hooking up brake lines or else you'll never get all of the air outh of your system
