Air Cleaner Gasket

I bought a new chrome Edelbrock Air Cleaner Assembly to go along with my new K&N Filter. Should there be any kind of gasket that I should use?

I would still like my question answered even though I have to go back and get a different air cleaner. THe one the guy gave me is to big for the filter... the cleaner is a 14" and the K&N is about an inch smaller.

There is a gasket between the air cleaner base, and the carb. Readily available at any parts store, or dealership.

I made a gasket using heavy gasket material. measured diameter; used a compass and made the gasket !!! Not a critical thing and easy to do !

Well I went back and they had neither a K&N to fit the Edelbrock 14" Assembly or an assembly to fit the filter. They didn't even have any air cleaner assemblys to fit any of their K&N's. So I went to another O' Reillys and got a Mr. Gasket 14" assembly and a 14" K&N
