Seat belt question
I need to replace the seat belts in my 87 regular cab with the stock bench. Can anyone tell me if 93-99 seatbelts will bolt in ?
Is there a good aftermarket vender that sells belts cheap?

Re: Seat belt question
I don't know about the 93-99 belts working in your truck, but you can check this website for replacement belts. I know guys who restored their old vehicles and liked their belts - but they can be pricey.
http://ssnake-oyl.com/ LMC and Classic Parts have the belts also. If you can get the GM part numbers for your belts I think it would be worth a look on oehq.com, oewarehouse.com, autopartstomorrow.com, and GMpartsdirect.com. Or, just do a google search for the part numbers. |

Re: Seat belt question
I looked at some of the parts wearhouse sites (Discount Car Parts Stuff). They offer lap but it says passenger side and driver side. The description is as follows :
Universal 2-point seat belt, 1.75" width x 54 inch full extend length. 10mm bolt mounting, comes with center push buckles. Is this right for the center lap belt?

Re: Seat belt question
Check LMC, page 112, $90 per belt, 3 point, OEM like.
Check Classic parts, page 34, $90, 3 point retractable. My catalogs might not be the newest, so page numbers might be wrong. |

Re: Seat belt question
My main issue is the lap belt. Will the one on LMC work (standard two point lap) for the middle bench seat.

Re: Seat belt question
Has anyone else used the 3 point aftermarket belts? The later ones don't really fit the floorpan in my '74, but i would also like to be able to put a child seat in there, too.

Re: Seat belt question
I bought the 3 point belts from lmc, they are decent, but didn't mount as well as I would have liked.

Re: Seat belt question
You have a bench seat right? Try sliding it toward all the way and check to see if you can see the 2 bolts near the middle of the cab.

Re: Seat belt question
I used ones from a 94 extended cab in my old 82. Everything bolted into the stock locations.

Can anyone tell me how the retracter bolts in? Do I need to take off the plastic cover to get to the bottom bolts? I understand how to take off the top one on the top pilar. yes I have a bench seat. Tehe truck is at paint right now so Iwill check it when it gets back sorry for all the dumb questions just never tried this before and not sure what I need.

Re: Seat belt question
Yeah if I remember right, there is a little panel on the rear of the lower piece that pops out to give you access to the bolt. Remember the 94ish ones use the Torx screw bolts to hold the seat belt to the floor while the older ones use a bolt. BTW, GM does not stock/sell the seat belts for those years any more. It's hard to find them in the junk yards here as most will cut the beelts on any cars they get in. I am told they are not supposed to sell us seat belt parts, but who knows. Good luck.

Re: Seat belt question
u wanna jimmy rig something that has to work or else u die? Have u see these trucks in a roll over??
U need to take into consideration degree of bend's of belts, anchor points and how the positioning will change the stress points, u need to understand proper sheet metal reenforcement, how to calculate gforce and other similar tolerances....theres tons and tons of things u need to research before u put in belts.... Never make the seatbelt hold the seat!!!,never use a old mount with a new belt? Thats like mounting new tires on a bent rim. theres my 2 sense. |
