Re: your exhaustt?
headers into dual flowmasters.... I have 2 chamber flows which sound very badd a$$ but the 3 chambers are very good but quieter.. if you just end at the muffler no tail piping it is much louder. either way can't go wrong with flowmaster or magna flows and a chevy block

Re: your exhaustt?
I have a Pypes brand system on my 68 with my 5.3L and long tube headers. The pypes setup has an X-pipe in it and is SS.
The install took some work and serious modication with the 5.3L so I can't comment on how it would fit in a stock setup. They have 3 muffler choices, and I picked the quietest ones (also supposed to be the best flowing ones). Its not real loud even with it dumping in front of the axle. I'm happy with it. |

Re: your exhaustt?
This is about what the Circuit Rider sounds like... with a 402BB What I like about these is I do not get the drone of the exhaust while driving down the highway.

I recently changed the Tips out from 4" Hollow Tips, to a 4" Dual Wall Tip. It doesnt have such a "Hollow Sound" now, it's more of a "Tuned Sound".

Re: your exhaustt?
wwotr, has is the sound vs just dumping out of the flows? I have been considering going from the flows and dumping out before or after the tire.... but I like the sound just dumping out the mufflers but it can be loud..

Re: your exhaustt?
I did a lot of listening to various set ups (all with BB's because that is what I had) and I came to the conclusion that it comes down to personal preference to the sound. Send fine69 a pm as he is finishing up on the Circuit Rider and get his opinion on my set up. I had Thorley headers with Dual Flowmaster 40's but I took them off and went back to the factory manifold. For me the drone at highway speeds was not to my liking ... others like their sound and that’s ok. Once you decide what you like...you will make the right decision. Best of luck

Re: your exhaustt?
These are the steelpack mufflers under my old 63 truck. They were 75 bucks for the pair delivered from Brockman. He's been handbuilding mufflers for decades. Sorry about the steam in the video, it was cold when I filmed it.

Re: your exhaustt?
Thats ok, I guess im looking for something to sound tough and rumbly, not too expensive though either, and something i can put together and not go to a shop for. And have it dump before the rear tires.

Re: your exhaustt?
Will headers fit past the shift linkage for a threespeed column truck?

Re: your exhaustt?
Another thing to consider is the pipe diameter and whether or not you have a H or X pipe. They will all change the sound.
