73-87 front crossmember questions 4wd to 2wd

I have a 79 4x4 and want to convert to 2wd. If I got a 73-87 front crossmember and got rid of the 4wd stuff up front what would be required to get the 2wd crossmember set up to fit?

Do you need to drill holes or are the holes already on the frame, and what are the differences between the c20 and c10 xmember?

My goal would be to keep the 8-lug but still get a decent size drop all the way around.

Re: 73-87 front crossmember questions 4wd to 2wd

Lots of questions in a short post. From what I have read on the many threads posted, the 2wd crossmember will bolt on, but you do need to drill some holes. You will need "everything" from the 2wd including the steering box and related linkage.

Keeping it 8 lug is another challenge, especially if you want to lower it. Drop spindles are available as well as springs. Finding wheels are an issue though.
