What To Do Behind Seats?
I need some help. I have my gas tank relocated to under the bed and I need some ideas of what to do to close up or cover up or whatever where the gas tank used to be. I have bucket seats and that part of the cab has exposed FatMat on it...so it sticks out like a sore thumb. I thought about covering it with fabric? I even thought about painting the FatMat...don't think that would look very good though. Do they maybe make a cover (not like the original) that would be made to fill in or cover up that area to clean it up a bit? Just lookin for ideas so any thing you got or did let me know. I don't have pic of exactly what I'm talkin about so I'll try to get one.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Mine still has the tank behind the seat. It has bucket seats with a console so I cut a piece of 3/8" plywood to cover that area and covered it with matching astroturf. I left the ends open for it to ventilate since I still have the tank back there, did not want to totally enclose it and create a bomb. You could take some thin plywood or paneling, cut it to fit, and cover it, have a great day.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
I'm planning on a thin piece of panelling covered in some black leather. Mounting a real stereo behind the center console so I don't lose my factory am/fm. Right now it's just tool and real jack storage. Flip the center console up and nobbody knows.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
That area just screams subwoofers to me. Maybe not your thing but I would put some in a homeade enclosure and carpet it.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Are you sure you dont want the factory look? Its the aftermarket carpet kits the look funny. The aftermarket kits fit on the tank itself and looks funny to me. The original carpet looks more like this.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
sameyrasmea72...........is that the factory setup on that truck? If so is that the original or replacement? I assume that is the the carpet with the cardboard behind it like the factory had it? Could that be the cardboard backing and carpet that I see in LMC? That is the look I'd like to have.
Fitz.......thanks for the pic too. Looking into doing that if don't find anything else. Thanks for help and ideas guys. I just haven't seen many around here with the tank moved to decide what I should do with mine. |

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Heres what I did after I relocated the tank under the bed. Built a sub box out of 3/4" MDF board. I have not covered it yet, not sure what to use.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Here are some pictures of mine.
I did the sub enclosure home made style by me. Not that pretty when installed but the carpet helped a lot.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Its pretty easy to fab a lost cost piece using board and either carpet or other material. WE were going to make fiberglass one piece units but I felt that they would have been too expensive for something that is not seen much and no one would buy.. You can make a nice one covered for around $100.00 using thin board. I had pics but have trouble getting them off my old computer

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Sorry no pics here, but you might want to check this site out here I bought carpet from them this year on another project and am very pleased; looks like they offer some for behind the seats. It made in the USA too.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Here's the best pics I can get right now. At least you can see what I'm starting with. All of you guys that have posted pics.........thanks. I have seen the PB 3 panel system and just don't know about it. It seems nice but once it's in there it's there for life. But like always I'm probably wrong about that. Kinda favoring the panel covered in carpet idea as well as the full wood enclosure. I've been doing the stereo thing for many years so that wouldn't be no trouble to slap some wood and fiberglass together. At the same time there isn't a stereo in this truck now and have no plans for one anytime soon. Was mainly looking to clean it up a little back there and maintain my car show storage crap.

Re: What To Do Behind Seats?
Ya, building my own seems to be the ticket. Might be a winter project unless it gets to me real bad before then.
