Sticks and Clutches
So my truck has the three speed that was originally a three on the tree and now its on the floor and it came with a straight 6 originally and now has a 78 250. Although I have yet to decipher my 12 bolt (what gearing could this 67 have?) what is the easiest swap? What would you go with? I've heard of the S10 5 speed and Im not against a clutch. I guess the S10 is a hydraulic system which has added expense. Again, what is the easiest/best swap in your opinion?

Re: Sticks and Clutches
BMERDOC, I assume you have a saganaw?
I'm sure you will evenually get some answers on your origional question here. Me...don't know that. My last DD had a three-on-the-tree behind a V-8. Way more performance than my T400!!!! As far as your rear end gears, here is a post by 1969k10stepside from a few years back that might help you: "Pull the cover off the differential, there will be numbers on the ring gear. The last 4 numbers will be something like 41,11 etc, etc. Then use them with the numbers below, or just simply divide and you will know the ratio. There is other ways to check but the only for sure way to know is to check on the ring gear. There use to be tags on one of the bolts but they are mostly always gone by now and who knows if the gears hadn't been swapped before so pulling the cover and checking is the certain way to know. Also you change the oil when doing this since it probably needs changed anyway... Ratio 2.56:1 - Tooth Combination 41,16 Ratio 2.73:1 - Tooth Combination 41,15 Ratio 3.07:1 - Tooth Combination 43,14 Ratio 3.08:1 - Tooth Combination 40,13 Ratio 3.08:1 - Tooth Combination 37,12 Ratio 3.31:1 - Tooth Combination 43,13 Ratio 3.36:1 - Tooth Combination 37,11 Ratio 3.42:1 - Tooth Combination 41,12 Ratio 3.55:1 - Tooth Combination 39,11 Ratio 3.73:1 - Tooth Combination 41,11 Ratio 4.10:1 - Tooth Combination 41,10 Ratio 4.11:1 - Tooth Combination 37,9 |

Re: Sticks and Clutches
That Biotch is caked it grease. I dont know if its a Saginaw or a whirlpool. It'll come out soon and be cleaned. If it has numbers on it I'll find them and given a day or two I'll tell you everything you ever wanted to know about it. Thanks for your info!

Re: Sticks and Clutches
ok I'll give you a shove...200 or 700r4? The units seem to be cheaper these days but the pkg can get expensive. Do I "dump" the clutch or is there a nice alternative?
